Hollingworth Lake is a 130-acre reservoir at Smithy Bridge in Littleborough. It was originally built as the main water source for the Rochdale Canal, but developed as a tourist resort from the 1860s.
This much-loved beauty spot offers a wide range of facilities for all ages, making it the ideal place for everyone to enjoy the great outdoors.
Lakes, ditches and wonderful wildlife habitats attract birds such as grey herons as well as provide frogs, newts, fish and dragonflies a healthy habitat to thrive. The colourful flowers provide nectar for insects and the reeds and bulrushes provide shelter for nesting birds.
